Everest North Advanced Base Camp Trek is the most adventurous and world’s highest trek. You can get as close to the summit of Everest as any non-climber can go. It’s an incredible adventure. The immense beauty of the massive peaks can be viewed close to the eyes on the way. As you climb up amidst spectacular mountain views you travel along the scenic trail following Tibetan cultural wonders, steep mountain moraine, passing of challenging glaciated mountains and surreally sculpted Rongbuk Glacier. This tour has been designed for people who are looking out for fresh challenges and high adventure.
Everest North Advanced Base Camp Trek starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu or from any part of mainland China to Lhasa. Once you arrived in Lhasa you have three nights and two full days to have a proper acclimatization and exploration of the ancient town. The highlights are Potala palace, Sera, Derpung Monasteries, Jokhang Temple, Norbulinkha Palace, Yamdrok tso Lake on the way to Gyantse and Tashilhunpo monastery in Shigatse.
After having a proper rest and sightseeing of ancient town we leave Lhasa and follow the Friendship Highway through some of the most beautiful and amazing landscapes in the world. We drive through small Tibetan settlements crossing the dramatic passes and crystal clear Lakes. We pass historical town and villages and nomadic herdsmen wandering across the wide arid plains and breathtaking snowy peaks.
Our journey move further to Rongbuk base camp and upon arrival at Rongbuk monastery you will be astounded by the spectacular and uninterrupted views of Everest’s massive North face, wow what an amazing and heart throbbing experience! After having two nights rest at Everest base camp we head for the steady achievable trek through amazing glaciers and breathtaking peaks to Advanced Base Camp 3 at 6350m where the sheer grandeur of Kangshung North face of Mt. Everest stands just in front of you.

Note: If you are planning to start/join your trip in Kathmandu you will need to arrive at least two days before the trip departure. If you wish to start your trip in Lhasa you can arrive one day before the trip start. We need your passport copy minimum 25 days before to process your visa and Travel Permit.
Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek Tibet – Detailed itinerary
Day 01: Arrive to Lhasa
Arrive at Lhasa Airport or train station, meet our guide and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day can be enjoyed relaxing and acclimatizing. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Lhasa city
Early breakfast at hotel, we start our today’s sightseeing tour to the different ancient monuments of Lhasa city with an expert and knowledgeable Tibetan local guide. In the morning, we will visit the beautiful Sera Monastery and the afternoon will be enjoyed visiting the culturally rich Jokhang temple and Norbulinkha palace. Overnight at the same hotel.
Day 03: Sightseeing of Lhasa city
Enjoy hot Tibetan breakfast at hotel; today we will visit the amazing Potala Palace which is believed to have existence before 17th century. It’s about two hour’s tour inside the palace. In the afternoon we will also visit Drepung Monastery. Once home to over 10,000 monks, the Drepung Monastery is still the hypnotic sight to enjoy. Have a scenic drive back to Lhasa for overnight stay.
Day 04: Rest and packing day in Lhasa
Today, we have nothing to do, it’s a rest day, after breakfast, we just hang around and spend the whole day having rest and packing things. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Drive from Lhasa to Gyantse via Yamdruk Lake
After the last breakfast in Lhasa, we leave Lhasa on a Land cruiser or Van along the Friendship highway. Dramatic high passes, such as Khambo La and Kharo La, provide breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. On the way, we will stop at Yamdruk Tso Lake and enjoy the crystal clear beauty of highest lake in the world. Overnight at hotel in Gyantse.
Day 06: Short and Scenic drive from Gyantse to Shigatse
Today’s drive is just for two hours, so that after breakfast we start visiting historical town, in Gyantse, we will have an opportunity to learn about the unique and amazing Tibetan culture as we see the Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum Chorten. Breathtaking view of the Gyantse valley can be observed from the ancient Dzong fort. In the afternoon, the scenic two hour’s drive from Gyantse to Shigatse provides a wonderful experience. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet and facilitates us to explore the ancient monasteries and amazing local markets. Overnight at hotel in Shigatse.
Day 07: Drive from Shigatse to Shegar (New Tingri)
After Tibetan style breakfast, we start our tour visiting the huge Tashilhunpo Monastery; founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama. In the afternoon, we drive along the Friendship Highway to New Tingri enjoying the awe-inspiring sights of the arid plateau. On the way, we will cross the highest pass of our trip, Gyamtso La, as well as numerous alpine settlements and nomadic herders. Overnight at guest house in New Tingri.
Day 08: Drive from Shegar (New Tingri) to Rongbuk
After having a delicious, hot and local breakfast we leave Shegar and on the way we cross an amazing pass known as the Pang La pass. From top of the pass, we can enjoy the entire breathtaking view of the high Himalayas. From here, we have first glimpse of Everest. Overnight at guest house at Rongbuk.
Day 09: Hike from Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp
After breakfast, we start an easy hiking from Rongbuk to Everest base camp. Today we will spend the whole day enjoying the barren yet awe-inspiring surroundings of the Everest Base Camp. It will be an unforgettable experience to stare up into the world's highest peak and gradually we will acclimatize. Overnight at guest house.
Day 10: Rest day at Everest Base camp
Breakfast will be provided at guest house. In order to have safe trip, we must need another day for properly acclimatizing in Rongbuk. We will rest and hike around the base camp. Overnight at a local guest house.
Day 11: Start the real trek from Everest Base Camp to Camp one Breakfast at guest house, the first adventurous trek will be made to Base Camp one. On the way we can glance at the Rongbuk Glacier and surrounding areas which are not less charming areas than any other wonders of the world. We will take a trail that rises to the east side of this ice cap and heads toward the peak of Mt. Everest. Although the hike is fairly short, due to the high altitude, we may still feel hard during trek. So, rest of the time we may relax today and enjoy discovering this magnificent area. First overnight in tents.
Day 12: Trek from Camp one to Interim Camp
Crew will serve you a hot breakfast at camp, after breakfast, we start our trek and the trail lead us over gravel hills to the west of the glacier. Another stunning day awaits you as we spend the night at the interim camp. Frozen environment that surround you in all directions will surely grant you the unforgettable experience. Overnight under tented camp.
Day 13: Rest day in Interim Camp
It is wise to have a rest day in Interim Camp to have a proper acclimatization. We are at extremely high altitude so that we must take all the necessary safety precautions to avoid hard moments. Depending on the weather condition we may have small excursions to the surrounding and can be enjoyed capturing the breathtaking views. Overnight under tent.
Day 14: Trek to Camp two
Today we will ascend up towards the Changste glacier encountering the intricate maze of frozen ice. It is certainly an incredible experience to be hiking on the world's highest mountain! Today our camp is even more wonderful and charming than past camps. We are surrounded on all sides by varying glaciers and hanging ice. Overnight under tent.
Day 15: Trek to Advanced Base Camp and return to camp two
Today is the grand day! We achieve to Everest Advanced base camp. Today we can decide whether to stay night at Base camp 3 or simply descend during day and return to Base Camp 2. The walk will be much more enjoyable tomorrow if we stay at the second base camp. However, if we wish we can spend the night at an even higher altitude and impressive location. Camp three which lies in the center of flattened gravel mounds next to the glacier only 2400 meters from the top. Today we can observe many of the challenging pinnacles, ridges, and even the rock summit of Everest from the site which is very near from the highest point in the world. Overnight under tents.
Day 16: Return to Rongbuk Base Camp
Today we descend down back towards Rongbuk base camp capturing the stunning sights as we leave this marvelous peak. Overnight at guest house in Rongbuk.
Day 17: Drive from Rongbuk to Shigatse
Breakfast will be serving at guest house, start a scenic and enjoyable drive from Rongbuk to Shigatse. Overnight at hotel.
Day 18: Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa.
After breakfast at hotel, we drive to Lhasa via northern road enjoying new and different views, landscapes and mountains. Overnight at hotel in Lhasa.
Day 19: Final transfer to airport for your flight back to home or extend your holiday with us.
